This boutique, which is a family business, started in 2011. If there are ladies who are curious about the initial reason why Zaskia Adya Mecca finally founded a boutique, it is because Zaskia and her older sister, Tasya, always have difficulty getting clothes that suit their tastes. Until finally the two of them decided to collaborate with a friend to create an online shop. A few months later, Zaskia and Tasya felt that there were differences in vision and mission with their work partner until finally they both decided to stop working together and set up a family boutique.
Finally in February 2013, this boutique, called Meccanism, was officially opened. The clothes offered by Meccanism are not only aimed at women who wear the hijab. Because the clothing models offered by Meccanism can be worn by anyone. Choices are available ranging from shirts, maxi dresses, long skirts, boleros, capes, harem pants, culottes, headscarves and short-sleeved tops and even mukenas. The clothing cuts and models chosen by this brother and sister duo tend to be simple, they provide clothes for everyday wear.
So if you are good at mixing and matching, you can wear these collections without having to wear a headscarf. Apart from clothing for women, the Meccanism boutique also offers a selection of t-shirts for men with the Kal's line which is the work of his younger brother, Haikal.
For the choice of materials, Zaskia and Tasya chose to increase production of clothing made from Jersey, Cotton, Chiffon Ceruti and Spandex. This is done because the sunny weather that always accompanies the capital means they have to think and choose materials that are comfortable to wear on the body. For one design, Meccanism produces only about 200 pieces and no more. Even though market demand sometimes swells, the Meccanism team still keeps it at 200 pieces for one design so that the collection doesn't make an impression on the market.
For selecting motifs and material colors, Meccanism prefers to hunt around Indonesia because they feel that the motifs and materials provided in Indonesia can be even more attractive than in other countries. Currently Meccanism employs 10 people, including the workers who manage the Meccanism online shop, and all of them are family. Starting from cousins to distant relatives.
A system like this was deliberately chosen by Zaskia and her sister, Tasya, who serves as store manager to minimize disputes or differences of opinion. Even though this business is a family business, Tasya applies a professional system in the boutique. Each regulation is made in writing along with the policies accepted by each employee.
The prices offered by Meccanism are quite affordable, collections are offered starting from IDR 200,000 to IDR 450,000. Because Meccanism aims to make it easier for anyone to wear comfortable clothes with beautiful models without having to spend a lot of money.
Now in managing the clothing line business, Zaskia Mecca uses the Qasir application to record sales and stock of clothes. Before using the Qasir application, for sales at the Meccanism store, recording was still done manually on the note and then had to be recapped on the laptop, so it took a lot of time. The Qasir application is free, very easy to use and I just need to monitor it from the web which is continuously updated.
